2014 SDS/2 Users Group Conference a Success

2014 SDS/2 Users Group Conference

Nearly 300 SDS/2 users, industry partners and Design Data representatives gathered for educational sessions, networking and a first-hand look at the future of the software at the 2014 SDS/2 Users Group Conference. The three-day event was held October 15-17 at The Embassy Suites in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska.

Following the welcome and opening remarks on Wednesday, David Gregor of Innovative Steel Detailing kicked off the conference with the keynote speech. Gregor's speech centered on what it takes to build a high performance detailing team, including the five main tenants of functional teams: an atmosphere of trust; healthy conflict; commitment to the organization; accountability; and attention to results.

Wednesday's other highlights included the annual Design Data update, business meeting and a series of roundtables, which gave conference attendees the chance to have a voice in future development of the software. The day concluded with the opening of the Partner Pavilion, which hosted partnering companies and served as the venue for Wednesday evening's reception (sponsored by Peddinghaus). The last two days of the conference were dedicated to breakout sessions, including those offering a closer look at SDS/2 2015 and its numerous enhancements. Other session topics focused on Modeling for Best Results, the Future of Parametrics and Components, MRP Transfers, and Basics Boot Camps.
