SDS/2 Compatible with Microsoft Windows 7October 12, 2009
When Microsoft® Windows® 7 is released on October 22, 2009, SDS/2 users will be able to seamlessly switch to the new operating system without losing any functionality in the software.
SDS/2 versions 7.1 and 7.2 have both been successfully installed and tested on the new operating system. Testing was also completed between two machines with the SDS/2 data directory — one running Windows 7 and one running on a previous version of the operating system.
The next releases of SDS/2 will have the updated installs for Windows 7. Before installing, please note:
- The install now recognizes Windows 7 and asks the user about changing permissions so the “Users” group will be able to write SDS/2 data files
- A fresh install (no existing data directory for this major version) will default the data files to the “ProgramData” directory instead of “Program Files”
Current SDS/2 users who may have questions about the compatibility between SDS/2 and Windows 7 should contact their Design Data support representative.
